Info for Teachers
University of Florida and the education technology company Study Edge invite teachers from across the state to incorporate Math Nation into their lesson plans and teaching practice.
With such an emphasis of technology in our world, a bell schedule no longer constrains teachers and students to the school building. Math Nation videos offer a wide range of material – from concept breakdowns to practice problems – supplementing the school-day learning with classroom resources in Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 (with more courses coming soon!).
Teachers can choose to use Math Nation as much as they want, in the ways that best fits their classroom needs. Teachers can use this as part of their daily instruction, show videos as bell ringers or as remediation, or assign Math Nation videos and problems as extra credit. Teachers can use Math Nation when they need to be out of the classroom, so no teaching time is lost. Teachers can also simply point to MathNation.com as a remediation or out of classroom resource, so students and parents have a go-to source for math help outside of school hours.
Teachers have used Math Nation videos in stations, assign videos as homework, or merely suggested watching videos as an an end-of-unit review. Math Nation also offers mini quizzes for students to self-test and chart their own study path. For teachers who choose to become involved, Math Nation has a Teacher Area that has multiple resources that are standards aligned, and a “Teacher Wall” where teachers can ask questions and receive answers teachers from around the state. In addition, teachers can access student usage reports, so they can see how their students are using Math Nation.
